Types of Filters for Your Filtration System
One of the quickest ways for your air conditioning system to lose efficiency and not operate properly is for it to operate with a dirty filter. When the filter reaches the saturated level of dirt and dust, your air conditioning system works twice as hard to reach the temperature desired. This is reflected in wasted energy and a higher utility bill. It can also cause you to wonder about the operating condition of your system due to its reduced capacity.
Here are some different types of air filters for your home.
High Efficiency Particulate Air Filtration
High Efficiency Particulate Air filters, or HEPA filters as they are called were designed for higher end applications such as hospitals, scientific labs, and homes like yours.
HEPA filters are highly efficient. They work to keep you and your family safe from harmful particles in the air like mold, or allergy-causing particles like pollen and pet dander.
Media Type Air Filtration
Media filters are a bit more complex than the average air filter. They are far more dense, usually four to five times as dense as regular filters. One of the benefits of these filters is their ability to stay fresher longer.
It is recommended to change media type filters every six month due to the increased performance.
Electrostatic Filtration
These filters are a magnetically charged type that will use that charge to catch and trap particles from your home’s indoor air. Their filter component is removable and washable plus they are 30% more efficient than a regular air filter.
