Before You Schedule a Heating Repair
At some certain point in time, your in-home heating system is going to need to be repaired. We would like to hope that would not happen on the coldest day of the year.
If your heating system happens to take a “day off”, here are a few things that you can try before you schedule heating repair.
Check The Power Going to The Heating System
Make sure that the circuit breaker for your heating system hasn’t tripped. If it has, try resetting the breaker by moving it to the off position and then to the on position. If your unit does not start when you reset this breaker, it might be time to schedule a service call for your heating inspection.
If you reset the breaker and you hear the furnace coming on but no warm air coming through your ductwork, There might have problems with your blower that distributes the warm air into your ductwork. This would also indicate there is a need of a heating repair.
Check Your Thermostat Settings
The heating might not be running because the thermostat is not set to make the unit turn on and off. Check your thermostat settings to see if that helps your heating system will spring to life.
If your unit hasn’t made a sound or attempt at running after moving the thermostat, there may be an indication that the thermostat is faulty. The newer digital models are much more efficient and can actually save you money on your energy bills by making the unit run as efficiently as possible.
